Direct Style

Direct Style is a set of 10 burs divided into two categories, posteriors and anteriors, the upper row is special for posterior direct restorations (letter P) and the lower row is special for anterior direct restorations (letter A).

Posterior Direct:

Step 1.- High speed carbide bur for amalgam removal,
Step 2.- High speed cylindrical diamond bur for cavity configuration,
Step 3.- High speed medium grit diamond flame bur for proximal wall opening,
Step 4.- Low speed medium round carbide bur for caries removal,
Step 5.- Active-head bur for margin finishing, this bur only cuts in the very end to avoid touching other teeth,

Anterior Direct:

Step 1.- Low speed special ceramic bur for margin detection, the bur will act more on old composite and less on sound tooth,
Step 2.- High speed round diamond bur for quick composite removal,
Step 3.- Low speed small round carbide bur for caries and debri removal for cavity cleaning,
Step 4.- High speed medium grit round diamond bur for chamfer preparation, if you don’t use chamfer go directly to step 5,
Step 5.- High speed multi-blade straight bur for beveling, if you do not use bevel, stop in step 4.
